Environmental Policy

ITR Secure Ltd - Environmental Policy

ISO 14001:2015
At ITR Secure Ltd, we provide secure and compliant IT asset disposal (ITAD) services,
including the collection, data erasure, recycling, and certified destruction of end-
of-life IT equipment. We recognise that our operations have environmental impacts and
accept our responsibility to manage them in a proactive, transparent, and sustainable
manner.
This Environmental Policy sets out our commitments in accordance with ISO 14001:2015
and reflects our intent to minimise environmental harm while supporting the
principles of a circular economy.
1. Environmental Commitment
We are committed to:
- Continual improvement of our Environmental Management System (EMS) to enhance environmental performance.
- Compliance with applicable legal and other requirements, including the Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, the Hazardous Waste
Regulations, the Environmental Protection Act, and Duty of Care obligations under UK
law.
- Prevention of pollution, including contamination risks associated with batteries, toners, CRTs, and data-bearing devices.
- Supporting the waste hierarchy by maximising reuse and recovery over recycling and minimising disposal to landfill.
2. Operational Practices
To fulfil our commitments, we will:
- Prioritise reuse and refurbishment of IT assets wherever viable, extending product
lifecycles.
- Ensure all data-bearing devices are wiped to industry standards (e.g. NIST 800-88
or equivalent) before resale or recycling.
- Segregate and manage hazardous waste (e.g. lithium-ion batteries, toner, mercury
lamps) in accordance with environmental legislation.
- Minimise emissions from our transport and logistics operations through route
optimisation and vehicle efficiency.
- Promote resource efficiency in our offices and warehouses by reducing energy,
water, and material use.
- Use certified downstream vendors for recycling and final waste treatment, ensuring
traceability and auditability.
3. Communication and Awareness
- This policy is communicated to all employees and subcontractors, forming part of induction and ongoing training.
- Roles and responsibilities related to environmental management are clearly defined within our EMS.
- We ensure relevant external interested parties - including customers, suppliers,
and regulators - have access to this policy and are informed of our environmental
expectations where applicable.
4. Environmental Objectives
We set measurable environmental objectives, reviewed annually as part of our
management review process.
Current objectives include:
- Reducing the percentage of non-reusable items sent for destruction by 10% over the
next 12 months.
- Improving recycling rates of internal office waste.
- Monitoring and reducing the carbon impact of collections per kg of equipment
processed.
- Enhancing supplier environmental screening and performance monitoring.
5. Review and Oversight
This policy is:
- Approved by management and demonstrates leadership commitment.
- Reviewed at least annually, or when significant operational or legal changes occur.
- Supported by documented procedures and controls within our EMS, which is subject to regular audits and continual improvement.
